Humble Beginnings

Karex began as a small family business in 1988 in Johor, Malaysia. We faced many struggles during our formative years. Great efforts were made to obtain the requisite product registrations unique to each market, to gain entry into markets that already had very established multi-national companies and to deal with tightening credit controls during the Asian Financial Crisis.

From our early years, Karex had to think of many new ways in order to close the competitive gap faced when entering an industry filled with established incumbents. The result is that until today, we fabricate all our own machinery allowing us to rapidly adapt our manufacturing lines to accommodate to the ever-changing customer preferences.

Moreover, we have always prioritised remaining at the forefront of new product development that has included developing condoms encompassing various colours, textures and properties including decreasing thickness in order to ultimately make the experience of using condoms more enjoyable.

Through a defined strategic roadmap, we developed our expertise and continued to expand our manufacturing capacity culminating in our successful listing on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad in November 2013.

We are today, the global leader in condom and lubricant manufacturing with operations across the United States, United Kingdom, Malaysia and Thailand. Our significant economies of scale allow us to deliver large orders within short lead times and our current clientele consists of governments, NGOs, brand owners and retailers in over 130 countries around the world.

We have also completed several international acquisitions aimed at incorporating greater degrees of own branded business into our group. Although we are still in the early stages of this transformation, we are confident that these strategies will ensure that we will remain a critical player in the global sexual health industry for years to come.
